A giant stone face at The Bayon temple in Angkor Thom, Cambodia I crafted a new special topics course to fulfill a 400-level elective requirement for upper-division undergraduate students in the Communication and Media Arts (CMMA) major in the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University. It combines my expertise in media literacy education with the fascinating and ubiquitous phenomenon of Disney. The course is titled Doing Media Literacy Through the Wonderful World of Disney. A giant stone face at The Bayon temple in Angkor Thom, Cambodia My Fall 2016 teaching schedule includes The Language of Television, a 100-seat undergraduate general education course (open to all majors) that explores media literacy in the context of television. I require students to maintain their own TV Criticism blog (WordPress, of course), live-tweet class sessions, and develop a TV Literacy Project where they produce a multimedia essay that analyzes and evaluates a TV program or genre through their chosen methodological lens.


While serving as deputy chairperson between 2015-2016, I returned to my roots and taught 2 sections of CMST 101, Fundamentals of Speech Communication. It is incredibly rewarding to see these cherubic freshman grow in confidence and intentionality in their speechmaking over the course of a semester.

Between 2007 and 2014 I found my niche within secondary teacher education at Montclair State University and taught and coordinated the following courses:
